Mr. Idorenyen Enang, CEO, Corporate Shepherds Limited, has emerged President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) after a keenly contested election.

Announcing this result at the Annual General Meeting of the Institute held weekend at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja Lagos, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Ali Madugu stated that two candidates contested for the position of the president while two persons contested for the council seats.

According to Mr. Ali Madugu, the election, which was done electronically, had 316 total votes cast out of 974 eligible voters, adding that Mr. Idorenyen garnered 306 votes while his contender, Mrs. Ifeoma Stella Dike secured 36 votes.

The electoral committee therefore announced Mr. Idorenyen Enang as winner having fulfilled the provisions of the constitution by securing the highest votes.

He also stated that Mr. Chidi Nwankpa and Dr. Peter Oriavwote being the only candidates vying for the two council seats secured 214 votes and 102 votes respectively and having fulfilled the constitutional provisions of getting at least 30% of the votes cast, they have been declared winners.

The outgone president, Mr. Tony Agenmonmen gave an account of his stewardship for the past four years, highlighting key achievements of his administration and urged the newly elected president to build on his noteworthy achievements.

Pledging his unflinching determination to take the Institute to an enviable height globally, Mr. Enang stated that his administration will herald a dynamic shift that aims to reset the Institute on the path of professionalism and launching it on a new frontier, adding that it will be achieved through its people-centric policies which aims to, among other things, build a new crop of marketers that can represent the Institute in an effective and efficient manner.

The event also featured an official handover ceremony of the mandate of leadership to the new president.
